Watch: Harshit Rana recalls when Virat Kohli asked him to call Anushka Sharma ‘Bhabhi’ in first meeting

Harshit Rana has recalled what Virat Kohli said to him while teasing him during ICC Champions Trophy 2025, when the Delhi pacer met his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma for the first time. 

The Indian squad has benefited greatly from Harshit Rana, particularly in the white-ball style. With constant support from Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, Harshit Rana earned his Test debut for India in 2024 and made his white-ball cricket debut last year. 

He has given India access to a bowler who can bowl at 140 kph and hit a few balls at number eight in the batting order. In all three formats, Rana has recently displayed flashes of brilliance with the bat and the ball.

The Delhi fast bowler participated in both the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 winning team and the Asia Cup 2025, which India won by defeating Pakistan in the final on September 28, 2025. He has also been named in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad that’ll be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 onwards.

In the meantime, Harshit Rana talked about his relationship with Kohli and recalled his first encounter with Anushka Sharma, the star who is Kohli's wife.

After India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai, Rana recalls entering the Indian dressing room and meeting Anushka Sharma for the first time in his life. 

Because it was their first encounter, Rana says he called Anushka "ma'am." Kohli responded by pulling his leg, questioning why he was calling her "ma'am" and recommending that he call her "bhabhi."

“I entered the dressing room, and Anushka Sharma was also there. I was meeting her for the first time. So I called her ‘ma’am’. Then he told me, ‘Tu ma’am kyu bol raha hai inko? Bhabhi bol inko’, (Why are you calling her ‘ma’am? Call her bhabhi)" Harshit recalled.

“I told him that I am meeting her for the first time. Then he told her that I am like that, and just some time ago I poured champagne on him, and I am calling you ‘ma’am’ now," he added.
