On Thursday, September 12, the Duleep Trophy 2024 second round of matches began. In the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, the gifted Riyan Parag struck one of the most spectacular strokes of the tournament while batting for India A versus India D.

Vidhwath Kaverappa dismissed both India A openers, Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal, within the first ten overs after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. India C was leading the way when Parag entered the batting at number four. The Assam captain smashed Kaverappa for an incredible six over long off after scoring five runs off his opening five balls.

Parag pushed forward to loft the overpitched delivery past the line with a high elbow after the right-arm bowler bowled it outside off-stump. Kaverappa could only watch as Parag showed off his abilities against the ball-racing bowler, sending it sailing over the boundary.

Riyan Parag shows excellence on the field:

Parag's blitzkrieg began with an incredible knock; he went on to score 37 runs off just 29 balls. During his bold performance, he hammered five fours and one six, providing the Assam innings with much-needed impetus. However, Arshdeep Singh terminated his stay at the crease, and the 22-year-old was unable to turn his start into a significant score.

Parag launched his bat at a big delivery produced by the left-arm seamer outside off-stump, hoping to hit another boundary. But all he could accomplish was a thick outside edge, which Devdutt Padikkal took safely at first slip. Earlier in the innings, Arshdeep had been struck for three fours in an over by Parag, so he was overjoyed to get the wicket.

India B defeated India A in their most recent match, while India C triumphed over India D. To reenter the title chase, both teams would want to win this game.
