New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner has sent a fiery warning to Team India ahead of the grand finale of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday, March 9.
While Team India defeated Australia in the first semi-final, New Zealand defeated South Africa in the second semi-final to advance to the final. Interestingly, the Black Caps’ only defeat in this campaign came against India, while Men In Blue came into the final unbeaten in the competition.
“It’s a cool feeling to make the final. We were challenged by a good side. We’ve had a go against India, and we look forward to doing it again," Santner said during the post-match presentation.
Though New Zealand suffered a 44-run defeat to India in the final group game, Santner felt that they had put Men In Blue under pressure, and that would motivate them to make it big in the grand finale.
“Being there in Dubai and putting India under pressure gave us confidence. You take in what things work and what doesn’t. I think the bowlers bowled well to chip wickets at the top. I think winning the toss will be nice as well," Santner added.
While Rachin Ravindra is leading the run-scoring tally for the Kiwis, pacer Matt Henry is on top of the wickets column, scalping 10 wickets.
