What is Priyansh Arya's IPL 2025 salary?

Over the years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has served as a breeding ground for young talents, allowing them to showcase their skills against world-class players. The 2025 season is no different, with fresh faces already making an impact.

Vignesh Puthur, a young spinner from Kerala, impressed for Mumbai Indians (MI) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while in another match, 24-year-old Priyansh Arya caught everyone’s attention with a fearless knock for Punjab Kings (PBKS) against Gujarat Titans (GT).

Opening the innings for PBKS, Arya smashed 47 off just 23 balls at a blistering strike rate of 204.34. His aggressive batting set the tone for PBKS, as he stitched a 51-run partnership in just 3.3 overs with skipper Shreyas Iyer.

Ahead of that game, PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting expressed his excitement about Arya’s potential at an event in New Chandigarh. The Australian legend stated: “Priyansh Arya, I think, is a very special potential opening batsman for us going forward in the tournament.”

Arya lived up to that praise with his explosive batting performance. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, he shared his admiration for Ponting: "Being part of an IPL team and hearing someone like Ricky sir talk to me is an amazing feeling. Every time he speaks, I am standing there and looking at him, trying to hang on to every word. It feels amazing."

PBKS spent 3.8 crore for Priyansh Arya in the IPL 2025 auction

Interestingly, Arya went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, but his fortunes changed in IPL 2025, with PBKS securing him for ₹3.8 crore, ahead of teams like Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Hailing from a middle-class family of schoolteachers, Arya’s cricketing journey began at Sanjay Bhardwaj's academy at the age of "9 or 10." He quickly made a name for himself in domestic cricket, particularly in the 2024/25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), where he was Delhi's highest run-scorer.

He scored 325 runs in nine innings at an average of 40.62 and a phenomenal strike rate of 176.63, including a century and a half-century. Arya also made headlines by hitting six sixes in an over during a Delhi Premier League (DPL) match, further showcasing his raw power and aggressive style.
