The last game of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has arrived, and the highly anticipated summit match between the top two teams is about to take place. There are now India and New Zealand left to compete for the ultimate gold in the competition, which started on February 19 in Karachi with eight teams. On Sunday, March 9, the game was scheduled to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Fans are worried if weather will force the match to be cancelled on March 9 after three tournament matches have already been rained out. The number of overs will be shortened after a predetermined amount of time if the weather disrupts a match. The Duckworth Lewis system, however, ends the day without a result if neither team can play at least 20 overs.
Reserve Day for Champions Trophy 2025 Final IND vs NZ:
The weather for the planned day has come up for discussion in the interim. This Champions Trophy edition was significantly impacted by the rain gods, which had an impact on several matches. Rain affected three matches in Pakistan: Australia vs. South Africa, Pakistan vs. Bangladesh, and Afghanistan vs. Australia. Two of these matches were totally ruined without a ball being bowled. Rain hasn't stopped the games in Dubai, though.
Indeed, the final between India and the victor of the second semi-final will have a reserve day. In contrast to the 2002 final, where India and Sri Lanka had to start the match again, the match will resume where it stops on the first day. For example, the Council has designated Monday, March 10, as a reserve day in case the game cannot be finished on Sunday. To guarantee completion, the fixture will be given an extra two hours on both the original and reserve days.
In addition, the minimum number of overs per team needed to play a match has been raised from 20 in the group stage to 25 overs. Furthermore, play will pick up where it left off rather than beginning over if the encounter is cut short and shifted to the reserve day. Additionally, the trophy will be split between the two finalists if the final is rained out on both the original and reserve days.
