The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi, on Saturday, confirmed that the Asia Cup 2025 tournament will begin on September 9, with the final to be played on September 28. The tournament, while being hosted by the BCCI, will be played in two venues in the UAE—Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The Asia Cup, which was created in 1983 and is conducted every two years to determine the regional champions, is organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Eight teams will compete in the 17th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament, which is split into two groups. Each group's top two teams advance to the Super 4 stage, where the top two teams will face off in the September 28 final.

Asia Cup 2025: Participating teams

Group A: India, Pakistan, UAE, Oman

Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong

Afghanistan will play Hong Kong in the opening match of the tournament. The next day, India launches their campaign against the United Arab Emirates.

With eight championships, defending champions India is the most successful team in Asia Cup cricket history. Pakistan has won the Asia Cup twice, while Sri Lanka has won six times.

Before the T20 World Cup next year, the Asia Cup, which has alternated between ODIs and T20Is since 2016, will now be played in the 20-over format.

When the Asia Cup was last played in the T20 format in 2022, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the championship match to win it.

Asia Cup 2025: Tournament Format

- The top 2 teams from each group will move on to the Super Four stage.

- In the Super Four, the four teams will compete again in a round-robin format.

- The top 2 teams from the Super Four will qualify for the final match.

The competition will take place in September 2025, with the championship match taking place on September 28. In anticipation of the T20 World Cup 2026, fans can look forward to a month-long celebration of exciting T20 cricket with a total of 19 matches scheduled.

Asia Cup Schedule 2025: Full Fixtures

In September 2025, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in the Twenty20 format. Eight teams will compete in a total of 19 matches during the tournament, with the final set for September 28, 2025.

The format of the competition will be group stage → Super Four → Final. The top two teams from each of the two groups into which the teams have been split will move on to the Super Four stage. The top two will then compete in the final.
