Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has opened up on the hosts suffering a four-wicket defeat to South Africa in the second ODI of the three-match series, in Raipur, on Wednesday, December 3.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the series decider in Visakhapatnam, Doeschate has asserted that the current group is used to operating under extreme pressure situations.

“When results start going against you, and performances fall below our standards, there is naturally a bit of desperation from a series perspective. But the group is used to operating under pressure. It never really leaves this team. A bilateral decider brings its own pressure, and we try to focus on our processes, work out what a good score is, and let the batting group chase that target,” Ryan ten Doeschate told reporters in Visakhapatnam.

Furthermore, the assistant coach also talked about the dew factor in the ongoing three-match ODI series. Interestingly, India lost the toss in both games of the series so far, as they were entrusted to bat first.

“The dew is huge here. It’s not something we can control, but it’s on us to adapt. This is a high-scoring ground with small boundaries, and the real challenge is managing the difference between batting first and chasing,” he added.

While India bagged a 17-run win in the first ODI, they suffered a four-wicket defeat in the second ODI. Both sides will lock horns in the third and final ODI on Saturday, December 6 in Visakhapatnam.

India’s probable XI for third ODI: Yashavi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul (C & WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna.

South Africa’s probable XI for third ODI: Quinton de Kock (WK), Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma (C), Matthew Breetzke, Rubin Hermann, Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Ottneil Baartman.
