Indian captain Rohit Sharma has opened up on the Indian Cricket Board’s newly released guidelines on Indian cricketers for travel, family presence, and others accompanying Indian cricketers on tours.

"I need to sit with the secretary (Devjit Saikia) and discuss," Rohit was heard telling Ajit Agarkar ahead of the start of the press conference. Interestingly, this conversion quickly went viral on the internet and social media.

When Rohit was asked about the newly released guidelines and SOPs, he avoided answering the question properly.

"Who told you about this? Has it come from the official end? Has it come officially?" Rohit stated.

Ajit Agarkar seemed comfortable with new SOPs

Notably, the newly released SOPs hogged the spotlight on social media after they were circulated by the media personnel. On the other hand, the Indian chief selector had his say on the guidelines, stating he is comfortable with the rules in place.

"I think we'll probably talk about it endlessly if we keep going on. I suppose every team has some rules in place. We've spoken about various things over the last few months where you can improve as a team, where you can get a bit closer as a team. It's not a school. It's not a punishment," Agarkar said.

"When you're playing for the national team you just follow those rules. Again, these are mature individuals. They are superstars in their own right. But at the end of the day you're eventually representing your country. There are certain things that you just inherently follow as every team does. I think a lot of them have been in place. Maybe we've spoken about it now and it's been put out, but a lot of them have been in place in any case. You keep on refining it as you go along,” he concluded.

On Saturday, Ajit Agarkar and Rohit Sharma unveiled India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Though unfit Jasprit Bumrah was part of the squad, Mohammed Siraj found the axe. Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson also couldn’t find the place.
