Will Jasprit Bumrah’s absence affect the preparation of other bowlers? Prasidh Krishna opens up

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna has opened up in the absence of the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the fifth and final Test against England at the Oval in London, which started on Thursday, July 31.

Notably, ahead of the start of the England tour, Chief selector Ajit Agarkar had confirmed that Bumrah would take part in only three out of the five Tests, as declared by his medical team, to manage his workload.

Krishna, who attended the post-day press conference, has asserted that every bowler knows his role in the team, adding that it doesn’t change much in Bumrah's absence from the playing XI.

"Not at all. Bumrah playing or not playing [doesn't affect the preparation of other bowlers]. All of us, as fast bowlers or in general bowlers, have spent a lot of time with each other. We know what each one has to be doing when their chance comes. It still remains the same. Him playing, him not playing; I think as bowlers we know what our roles are,” Prasidh Krishna told the reporters after the end of play on Day 2.

"Him being there, you know what he brings into the picture, and when he's not there, one challenge is to step up every single time you have the ball in hand," he added.

Furthermore, Krishna also opened up on the criticism he faced after his poor performances in the initial games of the series. In the Leeds and Birmingham Tests, Krishna could scalp only six wickets in four innings, conceding runs at an expensive rate. However, he turned the tables with a four-wicket haul in the first innings of the Oval Test.

"Criticism and praise are very dependent on performance. For me in life, it's not about the performance; it's about the process that you follow when you want to play for the country,” he stated.
