WPL 2026: Mumbai Indians (MI) Women full schedule and squad

3 seasons of WPL so far, and the Mumbai Indians (MI) have already won it twice. Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, they have shown dominance in the league, and now, they will look to defend the title. 

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is coming into this edition after guiding Team India to a historic maiden ICC Women’s ODI World Cup win. Therefore, expectations will be there. Their season will start on January 9 against Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Navi Mumbai. 

Out of the eight group-stage games, the first five will be played in Navi Mumbai, while the last three will be held in Vadodara. MI did a decent job in the mega auction, putting faith mostly in players who are proven and have already played for them earlier. Players like Amelia Kerr, Shabnim Ismail, and Saika Ishaque have been backed once again. 

Some interesting names for the upcoming season will be G Kamalini and Australia’s Milly Illingworth. Kamalini is most likely to be the regular wicketkeeper option, as they did not retain or buy back Yastika Bhatia. This could be the breakthrough year for the youngster.

For Illingworth, she is one of the most exciting prospects in world cricket right now. Her pace and bouncers could be the x-factor that MI might need. For her, this could also be another big stage to show her potential after proving herself already in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
