“There is no confusion” - Yashasvi Jaiswal on Team India selection for 2nd Test vs England

Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has heaped praise on the Indian captain Shubman Gill, who went on to smack yet another century in the ongoing Test series. Notably, Gill also smacked a 147-run knock in the Leeds Test.

Interestingly, Gill went on to become the fourth Indian captain to score consecutive centuries in their first two games as captain, emulating the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. At stumps on Day 1, Gill was unbeaten on 114.

Speaking at the post-day press conference, Jaiswal stated that it was amazing to watch Gill bat and also asserted that his leadership skills have been on point. Furthermore, he also asserted that the team is pretty confident in where they are standing.

"I think he's been amazing the way he's batting. It's just incredible to see him bat and as a captain, also, he's been amazing. I think he's very clear in his head what he needs to do with the team, and we are very confident in what we are going to do. So, yeah, we are just trying our best," said Jaiswal at the post-day press conference.

Furthermore, Jaiswal also added that there was no confusion in the team selection for the second Test. Interestingly, Gill brought in Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep and Washington Sundar to replace Shardul Thakur, Sai Sudharsan and Jasprit Bumrah.

"No, there is no confusion," he added.

Speaking about his dismissal on 87 in the ongoing Test, Jaiswal stated that he was disappointed but admitted that it was part and parcel of the game. He reckoned that he would aim to find a solution whenever he is challenged by the opposition.

"It is disappointing to get out like that but it is part of the game. But I want to enjoy the game at the same time. I try to find a solution that can be good in this situation (when he is challenged). Plans are always in the mind," he concluded.
