Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh has strongly backed India to claim the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title, predicting that Rohit Sharma and his team will defeat New Zealand in the final. The much-anticipated clash is set to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 9.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Yograj Singh clarified that his belief in India’s victory is not merely a prediction but a conclusion based on thorough analysis. He emphasized that India’s fearless style of cricket has been a defining factor in their success for more than two decades and will be key to winning the tournament.
“It is not about prediction, it is about study. Many people talk about Rohit Sharma and complain that he isn’t scoring runs. Look at the impact that he has on the team by playing at the top-order. If he is scoring 20-30 runs, its impact shows that he is a fearless player and the team is going to play fearless cricket. All the youngsters are following it. They are coming out of their comfort zone and playing,” Yograj Singh said.
Rohit’s leadership and Gambhir’s role praised
Yograj Singh highlighted how India’s aggressive approach, dating back to the Sourav Ganguly-Virender Sehwag era, has continued under Rohit Sharma. He pointed out that this attacking mindset has been ingrained in Indian cricket for the past 20-25 years and has played a crucial role in shaping the team’s success.
He also credited Gautam Gambhir’s involvement in the team setup, stating that his presence has brought additional belief and intensity to the squad. Calling their leadership a “magic” combination, he expressed confidence that India’s fearless approach will be the key to their triumph in the final.
“India will win Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian team is doing very well over the last 20-25 years because of playing fearless cricket,” he added.
Yograj Singh further lavished praise on both India and New Zealand, noting that they have been the only two teams to play aggressive, fearless cricket throughout the tournament. He observed that other teams in the competition had adopted a more cautious and casual approach, which eventually led to their downfall.
He also recalled how he had previously predicted that India and New Zealand would meet in the final, a forecast that has now come true. According to him, the final will be a battle between two teams that have embraced an attacking mindset, but he firmly believes that India’s approach, coupled with their experience and leadership, will see them emerge victorious.
With Rohit Sharma leading the team and young players stepping up with fearless performances, Yograj Singh is confident that India will lift the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, further cementing their legacy in international cricket.
