Yograj Singh slams Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma for sudden Test retirements

Former Indian pacer Yograj Singh has created headlines once again, slamming the veteran duo Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for announcing their sudden Test retirements ahead of the important England tour, scheduled to start on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.

According to Yograj, the sudden retirements of Kohli & Rohit will put a lot of pressure on the new Indian Test captain, Shubman Gill, as the baton hasn’t been passed by them, but instead it was thrown onto him.

"Virat and Rohit shouldn't have retired from Tests. I told Rohit to get up at 5 AM and run for 20 km to keep himself fit. Virat and Rohit can still play for another 5 years in Test cricket. They should have played," Yograj told Inside Sport.

"They should be there to see that the baton is passed to the youngsters, just like Sourav Ganguly did. The baton has not been passed, it has been thrown to Gill," he added.

Furthermore, Yograj Singh also opened up on his son Yuvraj’s retirement, disclosing that his soon also took a sudden decision of retiring from international cricket without following his piece of advice.

"Even when Yuvraj was retiring I promised him that I will help him become India captain and that we will throw everybody out but he quit," Yograj  stated.

The England Test series will begin on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds, before the series moves to Birmingham for the second Test.
