Many people believe that Yuvraj Singh is one of the best white-ball players of his generation. Yuvraj has always been transparent about his personal life in addition to his illustrious profession and the health issues he encountered during it.
The former Indian cricketer is renowned for being open and honest. Yuvraj freely discusses his feelings and shortcomings after achieving fame following a protracted battle in life.
In an old interview from his playing days, Yuvraj recalled how difficult it was to grow up under his father's instruction and how he pushed his parents to split. His turbulent relationship with his father, Yograj Singh, has long been a topic of conversation. In a previous interview, Yuvraj was asked about his father's aspirations to play for India and how that goal was subsequently handed down to him by veteran TV talk show host Simi Garewal.
He said, “What I heard was that he worked very hard for his game, and he was very talented. He was just very aggressive, and he did things his own way, so it was tough on him. He wanted to see himself through me, and he wanted me to play for India.”
Yuvraj expressed gratitude for his mother, Shabnam Singh, who raised him following the split, as he reflected on his family life. “I think only a mother can make the sacrifices that my mom made to bring me up. I am very thankful for having a mother like that," he said.
The cricketer also shared that it was his decision for his parents to split. “Yeah, I was about 14 or 15 years old, and it was getting tough to be in that kind of an atmosphere where your parents are always fighting. It wasn’t good for me, and I was also playing at the time. I gave them the idea and told them that they should go their separate ways instead of causing such pain for the kids or the people around you," he revealed.
At the age of 17, Yuvraj moved in with his mother, and Yograj subsequently got married again and had two more kids. Their relationship has remained tense over time.
