After 29 years of marriage, music legend AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their divorce. Following Saira Banu's announcement, AR Rahman verified it in an emotional post on his X, formerly known as Twitter. Celebrity attorney Vandana Shah made an official statement on Saira's behalf during the split. She opened out on why divorces have grown so prevalent in the entertainment world in one of the podcasts.
Vandana discussed the reasons why celebrity marriages fail, saying "Their lives are very different. I don’t think infidelity is the cause of most of those marriages; it is boredom. They have seen it all, so they move from one marriage to another because of boredom, which is not common in a normal person’s life."

She further added, "Also, the expectations from their sex lives are much higher in those setups than in a normal marriage. Adultery happens very often, but one-night stands are not a big issue. So, the main issues are boredom, feeling unimportant, and having to listen to people who are not involved in the marriage—it could be the mother, the brother, or the father-in-law."
Vandana also discussed how outsiders, such as moms, brothers, wives, and other family members, might intervene. The well-known attorney used the example of a South Indian marriage whose bond was strained due to the father-in-law's meddling.
She revealed, "There’s a South Indian couple where the father-in-law is pulling all the strings, and the daughter-in-law is not happy. Her husband is a tiger in bed and a tiger otherwise, but in front of his father, who is worth around ₹10,000 crore, he becomes like a cat."
