Santosh will finally make his appearance on OTT after a protracted wait. Unfortunately, when the movie was originally scheduled for release in January, Indian fans were unable to see it in theatres. Disagreements with the CBFC resulted in the cancellation of the theatrical debut. The movie, which had its global premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, starred Shahana Goswami as Santosh.

After making its debut in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Santosh went on to attend several esteemed film festivals, such as the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and the BFI London Film Festival. The film received nominations at the BAFTA Awards, was included in the National Board of Review's Top 5 International Films of 2024, and was shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature category as the UK's official entry.

Santosh OTT Release:

Santosh, an international co-production including several nations, including the UK and India, was also chosen as the UK's official submission for the 2025 Oscars' Best International Feature Film category. Through its social media accounts, Lionsgate Play has formally announced that Santosh will be available on over-the-top (OTT) services on October 17, 2025. The Hindi version of the movie will be accessible. But there hasn't been any official word on whether the streaming service will self-censor this version. Tollyibomma states that this release is anticipated to be an unaltered version of the original.

The film was originally scheduled to be released in theatres on January 10, 2025, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objected; therefore, the showing was postponed. The board reportedly requested that sequences showing gender-based violence, caste inequality, and police brutality be edited. However, to maintain the integrity and message of the picture, the directors declined to make these cuts.
