Yo Yo Honey Singh admits mistreating ex-wife after fame & success

The iconic singer Yo Yo Honey Singh gets candid about how stardom & addiction got to his head which led him to stray from his family.  While Singh and his ex-wife Shalini Talwar have signed an agreement to keep their divorce a secret, the rapper has now admitted, in passing, to ignoring her while under the influence of other ridiculous things.

After being married on January 23, 2011, Honey and Shalini had a happy first nine to ten months of marriage, the singer said. But their life quickly turned upside down as his career took off and he started abusing drugs and alcohol. For those who don't know, the couple finalized their divorce in 2022–2023.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Honey Singh stated, "At the time, our relationship wasn't great. We were separated by distance because I was travelling frequently. I completely lost myself in daulat, shohrat, nashe aur aurat (money, fame, addiction, and women), and neglected my family. He went on to say that he had done "terrible things" during that time, nearly left, and had forgotten Shalini.

The singer disclosed in the same interview that he was introduced to substances by a few "big and influential names," and that he became so dependent on them that he was high all the time. "I was usually not aware of who I was or where I was. I made it clear that I never needed rehabilitation in order to kick my addictions," stated Honey Singh.

The Brown Rang singer claimed that he eventually made the decision to stop using drugs of all kinds and told his family about his severe mental health problems. Due to his hectic schedule, his family made sure he was aware of the potential legal ramifications of foreign law firms, even though he urgently needed medical attention and treatment.

Fortunately, Honey put his health above his career and disappeared for a full seven years till he healed. Although the artist is actively promoting his most recent album, Glory, a documentary detailing Honey Singh's extraordinary life and contentious battle is set to release on Netflix in the near future.
