Heinrich Klaasen

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) retained a total of five players before heading into the IPL 2025 Auction. They spent INR 75 crore to retain Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Pat Cummins. The runner-up from the last edition of IPL had INR 45 crore to spend in the auction.

The team spent INR 11.25 crore for Ishan Kishan and he became the most expensive player for the team at the auction table. SRH decided to strengthen their pace bowling attack and picked Mohammed Shami (INR 10 crore), Harshal Patel (INR 8 crore), Jaydev Unadkat (INR 1 crore), and Simarjeet Singh (INR 1.5 crore).

Brydon Carse (INR 1 crore) and Eshan Malinga (INR 1.2 crore) are the two overseas pacers that the team bought. The spin bowling department of the team will be led by Adam Zampa (INR 2.4 crore) and Rahul Chahar (INR 3.2 crore).

Here are the four overseas players in SRH starting playing XI in IPL 2025:

1. Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa has played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Rajasthan Royals in the IPL so far. The 32-year-old spinner has played a total of 20 matches in the IPL and has picked 29 wickets at an average of 19.24.

Zampa is likely to feature in the playing 11 ahead of the likes of Carse, Malinga, and Kamindu Mendis. He is currently playing in the Big Bash League and has taken 10 wickets in nine games at an average of 23.10, an economy of 7.21, and a strike rate of 19.20.

2. Travis Head

SRH spent INR 14 crore to retain Travis Head. Head was the leading run-scorer for SRH last season and made 567 runs in 15 games at an average of 40.50 and a strike rate of 191.55. He amassed one century and four half-centuries in the tournament.

In 24 T20 matches last year, Head made 903 runs at an average of 43 and a strike rate of 184.3. He scored nine half-centuries and one century in T20s. It was the first time he scored more than 500 runs in T20s in a year.

3. Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen was the most expensive overseas player retained by the franchises before the IPL 2025 Auction. Klaasen was the second-highest run-scorer for SRH last season and scored 479 runs in 15 outings at an average of 39.91 and a strike rate of 171.07. He made four half-centuries in the tournament.

The batter has been in terrific form in the last few years. He made 1235 runs in 33 games in 2023 at an average of 49.4. In 2024, he made 1023 runs at a strike rate of 177.

4. Pat Cummins

Cummins has been in great form in captaincy and has won almost all the major trophies in recent times. Cummins was the second-highest wicket-taker for SRH last season and took 18 wickets in 16 games at an average of 31.44, an economy of 9.27, and a strike rate of 20.33.

The 31-year-old all-rounder has played a total of 157 T20 matches and has taken 176 wickets at an average of 27.26, an economy of 8.15, and a strike rate of 20. He took 11 wickets in seven T20I games at an average of 18.72 last year.
