The SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) was one of the few teams that used the option of INR 75 crore to strengthen their core ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. The likes of Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Nitish Reddy were all retained before the big auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
SRH added fast bowler Mohammed Shami for INR 10 crore and explosive batter Ishan Kishan for INR 11.25 crore and bolstered their squad further. With many other key additions in the bowling department, SRH has built a squad that this time could dream of going one step better than last year and clinching the IPL 2025 title.
On that note, let's take a look at three opening pairs that SRH can settle on
1. Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma
Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma are both explosive batters and excellent timers of the ball. If SRH feel like using Travis Head at No.3, they can do that by opening the batting with the two Indian explosive batters.
Ishan Kishan has done well for the Mumbai Indians as an opener in the past and his goal would be to repeat the same heroics for SRH. SRH tried their best to get Ishan Kishan in the IPL 2022 auction but couldn't get him. They would be delighted to have added him to their explosive squad finally.
2. Ishan Kishan and Travis Head
Ishan Kishan can also open the batting with Travis Head and provide another explosive solution to the SunRisers Hyderabad. Travis Head's best position is arguably at the top of the order where he can attack and set a tone.
Ishan Kishan at the top will also complement him well and can take his time to get his eye in thanks to Head's explosive game.
3. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma
SRH is likely to stick to the opening combination of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma as the combination was arguably their main reason for reaching the IPL 2024 final.
They had made a mockery of many bowling attacks in the IPL 2024 season, especially that of Lucknow Super Giants in the game where they scored 166 runs in 8.5 overs.
