When Royal Challengers Bengaluru plays the Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2025 match on Sunday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, they will be wearing green jerseys. The franchise's larger sustainability measures are highlighted by the green jerseys, which are constructed from recycled cloth and are intended to increase public awareness of environmental protection and conservation. As a carbon-neutral team, RCB hopes to further include supporters in its environmental mission with the goal of being carbon-positive by implementing this program at the home stadium for season-long fan interaction.
Rajesh Menon, COO of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, discussed the initiative: “For us, it is about being bold, both on and off the pitch. Our green jerseys are more than just a symbol; they are a call to action. As proud representatives of the Garden City, sustainability is a natural priority for us. Through this initiative, we aim to leverage the cultural and social power of RCB to drive awareness and inspire fans to take small steps towards conservation.”

In addition to being extensive, RCB's sustainability initiatives are grounded in statistics. The franchise can precisely monitor the ecological impact of all of its operations through regular carbon audits. The team conducts thorough assessments to record their carbon footprint, measuring the effect of spectator travel on overall emissions by tracking fan journeys to and from the stadium as well as emissions from diesel generators inside the stadium.
To counteract their carbon offset, RCB uses a number of strategies, including trash management and segregation at the stadium, the use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, and other projects to lessen reliance on traditional resources. The creation of green schools and lake revitalization projects in Bengaluru last year are examples of RCB's wider community engagement. In order to engage fans in the sustainability movement, they also encourage them to make a commitment to save energy.
