Shashank Singh, a batsman with the Punjab Kings, thinks Prithvi Shaw may regain his former glory provided he makes the required adjustments. Following his success in leading India to the 2018 U19 World Cup, the right-handed Shaw became a household name. He even made his Test debut for India and was hailed as the next great thing. He got off to an exceptionally strong start, hitting a century in his first game. But now that he has been on a downhill spiral, the situation is really different.

And it didn't end there. Shaw did not sell in the mega auction because of his poor fitness and other off-field problems. Therefore, it will not participate in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The Mumbai-based batter's exclusion from the domestic team for the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy added to his already severe selection problems.

Shashank Singh's wise advice:

Shashank Singh discussed what Shaw can do to turn around and return on Shubhankar Mishra's YouTube program. When asked who he believes could be the next big thing in Indian cricket, he mentioned the young player by name. Answering to this he said, "Yashasvi, for sure, he’s a big name. Shubman Gill is another. He’s a very talented player. Prithvi Shaw, too, if he can return to doing his basics, I think he can achieve anything. I know him since the last 13 years, I used to play with him in Mumbai."

He also said, "Prithvi Shaw is underrated. If he goes back to his basics, he can achieve anything. I have known him since he was 13, since I've played club cricket with him in Bombay [Mumbai]. If you ask me what's wrong with him, he has a different perspective on a few things. Maybe, he can change something about his work ethic, maybe sleep at 10 PM instead of 11 PM, maybe improve his diet. If he can accept and change some of these things, it would be the best thing for Indian cricket,"

In the IPL 2024 season, Shashank demonstrated his value by finishing as Punjab's top run scorer. In 14 innings, he averaged a respectable 44.25 and scored 354 runs. He hit two half-centuries and kept up an impressive strike rate of 164.65 during these appearances. Shashank will begin his career in the forthcoming IPL 2025 season on March 25 in Ahmedabad when PBKS plays Gujarat Titans.
