The Delhi Capitals (DC), acquired wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul for INR 14 crore at the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday, November 24.

Rahul's homecoming to his home franchise, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), didn’t happen as they didn’t put in the extra effort to compete against DC on the auction floor. During the bidding battle, teams like CSK and KKR also participated, but DC was the one who was able to secure the services for a relatively low price of INR 14 crores.

After releasing former captain Rishabh Pant, DC is searching for a new captain, and KL Rahul appears as a potential captain for the Delhi Capitals. His salary took a slight dip after he was one of the pre-auction signings for LSG for INR 18 crore.

Rahul, who concluded the 2024 Indian Premier League with a strike rate of 136 after playing with a strike rate of over 160 during his time with the Punjab Kings, was criticized for his lethargic performance despite scoring 520 runs.
