Mitchell Starc IPL 2025 team: Which team bought the Australian pacer in the auction?

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc was sold for an astounding ₹11.75 crore to the Delhi Capitals (DC) in a jaw-dropping move during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) did not retain the pacer, despite his remarkable performances in 2024. 

Starc, who was the most expensive player in IPL history after being bought at the cost of ₹24.75 crore in 2024, found a new franchise in Delhi at a much lower price.

His match-winning spell in the final earned him the Man of the Match award and cemented his legacy in KKR’s history. KKR decided to release him, probably because of their long-term visions and Starc’s age. This move opened up the door for Delhi Capitals to pick Starc as their frontline pacer.

Though Starc was priced much lower in 2025 than in 2024, the Capitals were rather pragmatic in their assessments and then managed to ensure their purse was well under control while picking up a proven matchwinner. Starc certainly was just what Delhi required to build upon a potentially successful campaign, being one of the finest pacers in the game.

Though Starc's move to DC was one of the biggest talking points of the auction, he also started fresh in his IPL journey by joining a team desperate for its maiden championship.
