NZ vs IND: Predicting India's strongest playing XI for T20I series

This year, India will tour New Zealand in all formats from October to November. The tour will feature five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests. The Test matches are important for both sides in terms of World Test Championship (WTC 2027) final qualification.

The T20I series will be played initially, from October 22 to November 1. The first T20I will take place on October 22 in Christchurch, followed by the second on October 24 at the same venue, the third on October 27 in Wellington, the fourth on October 30 in Auckland, and the fifth on November 1 in Hamilton.

Today we will check out India’s strongest playing XI for the New Zealand T20Is.

Here is India’s predicted strongest playing XI for the NZ vs. IND T20I series:

India will have their two best openers starting the innings in Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. While Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is still waiting for his chance, it might seem that he will only get chances in the middle if India pockets the series early on. Ishan Kishan has cemented his spot at the No. 3 spot, and he has done well to carry on the momentum forward built by the openers.

The middle is expected to be stacked with captain Shreyas Iyer, vice-captain Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, and one of Shivam Dube and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Reddy has the edge over Dube when it comes to bowling medium pace, while Dube is a better hitter against spinners.

Axar Patel is expected to slot in as the spin all-rounder, while Kuldeep Yadav might get a look in as second spinner, if the pitch and conditions warrant an extra spinner. Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace attack. Arshdeep and Bhuvneshwar will both swing and seam the ball in New Zealand conditions. Mayank Yadav might pick Kuldeep as the third seamer, if the pitch is green and conducive to pace.

Predicted India’s strongest playing XI for NZ vs IND T20I series:

Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Shivam Dube/Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav/Mayank Yadav
