The selectors of the Indian cricket team have named the India A squad for their upcoming series against New Zealand A in New Zealand, beginning on October 24. On October 6, ahead of the highly anticipated series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the complete squad for the India A versus New Zealand A match. On October 6, 2026, the BCCI finalised and announced the squad.
Rishabh Pant, who also serves as a wicketkeeper-batter, has been added to the group pending his fitness. His availability will be evaluated nearer to the series, with Jurel expected to take charge regardless of whether Pant is cleared to play. The series offers India’s red-ball fringe players a chance to make their case for selection at the senior level, featuring a blend of seasoned international cricketers and rising talent in the team.
On paper, this will be a match-up between the A teams of the various countries. Typically, the board tends to select players for the A cricket team who are not part of the senior cricket team’s roster. This time, things are different. Before the 2027 ODI World Cup, the BCCI included several first-team cricketers in the squad.
India A’s three multi-day matches are distributed across two venues in New Zealand’s South Island. The first match takes place from October 24 to 27 in Lincoln. The second match takes place from October 31 to November 3 in Christchurch. The third and final match will be held in Lincoln from November 7 to 10.
