A new three-year contract cycle that will run from 2026 to 2028 has begun with the official release of the Caribbean Premier League‘s (CPL) Player Acquisition and Draft Rules for the 2026 season. In order to improve competitive balance, foster up-and-coming talent, and incorporate a seventh franchise into the competition, the new structure makes a number of significant adjustments. On Friday, May 15, the league’s official social media platforms will reveal the draft choices.
Nine senior West Indies players, five foreign players, and three Breakout Players will make up each franchise’s 17-player roster under the new rules. The Jamaica Kingsmen will have special draft rights because they are the newest team in the league. Although they are not obligated to use all three picks, the team will have the choice to select the top three Jamaican players in the draft.
