In the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024), the Guyana Amazon Warriors handed the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots their eighth loss, defeating the winners by a margin of thirty runs in Providence to increase their prospects of moving on in the tournament.

After choosing to bat first, the Patriots held their opposition to 137/8, with Ashmead Nedd taking four wickets and dismissing both Tim Robinson and Kevin Sinclair as ducks. With just 13 runs scored off his left-arm wrist spin, Tabraiz Shamsi's flight and cunning also kept the Warriors at bay. The South African also dismissed Shimron Hetmyer and Moeen Ali

Hetmyer preferred the remainder of the Patriots' bowling, but he won Player of the Match after a decisive and devastating innings of 63 off just 33 balls.

Warriors win the 21st CPL 2024 match:

Evin Lewis put up a valiant 49 runs off of 46 balls at the top of the order, but the Patriots never really looked like winning. The Patriots had too many runs to chase in the last half of the inning due to Moeen Ali's ball-handling mishaps, and they missed the opportunity to win just their second game of the season.

Shamar Joseph was clinical for the Warriors, finishing with 3/9 in just 2.3 overs after being bowled out by Rilee Rossouw in the 15th over seemingly putting an end to any remaining chance.

After the game, Hetmyer stated, "Words can't express how great it is to play at home, knowing you have the support of everyone - it's just amazing. He was very delighted by the performance of Joseph. I believe that he was just waiting for the opportunity to start taking wickets. We have already witnessed his amazing bowling ability during his little career to date. He is incredibly exciting, and all he needs to do is keep doing what he is doing to reach new heights. "

The Guyana Amazon Warriors put on a strong effort that keeps their chances of winning the championship they did the year before very much alive. Watch this space for more updates on CPL 2024 news.
