The champions of the previous evening, Trinbago Knight Riders, lost to Antigua & Barbuda Falcons by six wickets with an over remaining in an exciting encounter packed with happenings in Port of Spain. In addition to giving the Falcons double bragging rights over the Knight Riders in this year's Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the victory helped them maintain their narrow prospects of moving forward.

The Knight Riders were reduced to a below-par 134/8 by skilful bowling, and Kieron Pollard's 37-ball 47 gave the home team a shot in the arm on a damp evening that made run-scoring rather difficult. The Falcons won the toss and elected to field first. Tim David, last night's man of the hour, contributed 25 from 20 balls to help lead his team to a respectable score.

Subsequently, Justin Greaves contributed a Player of the Match inning, securing the Falcons' third win of the season. After scoring a patient 46 off 48 balls, he left the field to enable a new, stronger-hitting colleague to complete the task. For the visitors, it was a daring move that finally paid off.

In an exciting 19th over that bore similarities to the 2019 World Cup final, Hassan Khan made a crucial cameo of 36 off 20 deliveries, and Imad Wasim was there to see his side through. A deflection off the bat as the batter returned for his second run saw the ball run over the boundary rope and six runs were awarded to the batting side. With Fabian Allen pushing the winning runs to midwicket to complete the match and keep the Falcons winning in this year's CPL, a total of 18 runs were ripped off the Josh Little over.

A gleaming Greaves exclaimed following the game, "Winning at Queen's Park Oval is a unique experience. We haven't had a great season, but it's good that we defeated TKR twice. We're content with the way things worked out. Their fortress feels fantastic to triumph against Trinidad in Trinidad. One game at a time is what we have to do. You never know."

The Falcons concluded the night with a glimmer of optimism that they could yet be able to salvage something from their 2024 CPL season, while the Knight Riders remained in second place in the standings.
