For the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2025) season, David Wiese has been selected to captain the reigning champion St Lucia Kings. Faf du Plessis, their full-time captain, is not present. Notably, the star South African batsman had withdrawn from the CPL for personal reasons, but he was later disqualified from both the league and The Hundred 2025 in order to undergo surgery on his groin.
Wiese, who batted in the lower-middle order, amassed a vital 121 runs in 11 games at an average of 40.33 and an explosive strike rate of 168.05. By taking 13 wickets in 11 games, he also showed that he was a vital member of the bowling team. The 40-year-old will now be in charge of the Kings as they attempt to defend the trophy in the forthcoming season.
