The Guyana Amazon Warriors cricketer from Pakistan Azam Khan survived an injury scare at his last match in CPL 2024. Antigua and Barbuda Falcons' pacer Shamar Springer bouncer got struck on Azam Khan's neck leaving him in excruciating pain. Azam fell to the ground holding his neck. The match was between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on 30th August 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda.

Azam attempted a quick delivery, but the ball struck him on the shoulder and then the neck. The ball slammed into stumps and he was eventually bowled. In the tenth over of the run chase, he walked out to bat at number five. The incident happened in the Warriors' run chase's twelfth over. He attempted to punch the ball towards the off-side on the previous ball, but Sam Billings, the wicketkeeper, was able to block the edge.

Azam Khan gets injured during CPL 2024 match:

Before the physiotherapist arrived to help Azam, he had collapsed to the ground and was in pain. With the assistance of therapy, he was able to go back to the pavilion after receiving medical attention. Azam was out of the game after nine runs in a ball. In 11.3 overs, the Warriors were 77/4 following Azam's wicket. Warriors won by three wickets thanks to Romario Shepherd's 16-ball 32-run cameo and Dwaine Pretorius's last-over exploits against Pakistan's left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir.

Lately, Azam has been having trouble with his form. In the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, he bagged two ducks in as many innings, which eliminated Pakistan from the group stage. His T20I record is not that impressive. The son of Moin Khan has amassed just 88 runs at an average of 8.80 from 13 innings. He had an undefeated 30 versus Ireland at his peak.

The Warriors decided to keep the 26-year-old before the CPL 2024 season. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so he could participate in the competition. On September 4, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will play the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Warner Park. Azam will probably be seen in action then. Until the next match, Azam has plenty of time to heal from the trauma on his neck.
