Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar stated that the home team has not added any players to the roster for the third Test match against New Zealand in Mumbai, meaning Harshit Rana's wait to earn his India debut would have to wait until at least the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in November.
In the third and last Test of the current series, Team India is prepared to play New Zealand. The hosts have not benefited from the series thus far. India lost the matches at Bengaluru and Pune when they faced New Zealand in the first two Test matches of the series. Beginning on November 1, both teams will assemble in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium for the third Test. After losing the series previously, the hosts will look to defeat the Black Caps in a consolation match before the Test.
No debut for Harshit Rana:
The 22-year-old pacer joined the camp ahead of the November 1 start date, which sparked rumours that he would be included in the starting lineup. But he was only there as a net bowler. Harshit recently made an impression for Delhi in their Ranji Trophy 2024–25 match against Assam, taking five wickets and scoring a half-century. As a member of the 18-man team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, he will fly to Australia next month after having been a member of the travelling reserves for the current Test series.
Abhishek Nayar, India's assistant coach, spoke out before the third Test on the team changes for the fourth Test. Harshit Rana was supposed to make his debut in the third Test, as many had anticipated, but Nayar stated that the team would not be expanded. He said, "No additions to the squad. Every week is critical, and every day is critical. We have not been narrow-minded in thinking about the WTC final. We want to focus on this match.”
🚨 NO HARSHIT RANA...!!!! 🚨
