In response to accusations against the cricket board, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Bangladeshi government conducted a raid on the BCB's headquarters on Tuesday in order to gather records and papers. After their raid, the three-person investigation team and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury gave a news conference.

Among the accusations are corruption in ticket sales during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and irregularities in cricket-related expenses related to a political program called "Mujib 100" in 2020, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and commemorated Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 100th birthday.

ACC's assistant director Al Amin said, "We came here today from the ACC’s head office to conduct an enforcement operation. The main issue of the complaint was corruption in the selection process of various cricket leagues under the Bangladesh Cricket Board. This enforcement operation is being conducted based on allegations of illegal transactions and various other irregularities. We had specific complaints today, particularly regarding the 2023 team selection for the Third Division Qualifying round."

Bangladesh Cricket Board in Trouble:

The third division qualification competition in Dhaka had a regulation change, which the ACC team also noted. Nazmul Hassan's term as president of the BCB is impacted by all three accusations. Faruque Ahmed took his position after he resigned in August of last year.

The financial irregularity in the BPL's ticket sales since the third edition is being investigated, according to ACC officials. Over the course of the eight seasons, ticket sales brought in about BDT 15 crore (1.2 million USD), but in the eleventh season alone, that amount was BDT 13 crore (1.07 million USD).

After their disappointing Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, in which they lost to eventual finalists India and New Zealand and were eliminated in the first round, the Bangladesh Cricket Team had a long vacation. As they play Zimbabwe in a two-match Test series, they will resume play on Sunday, April 20. The matches will be held in Chattogram and Sylhet.
