The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League's technical committee has been directed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to investigate a contentious stumping that occurred during a game between Gulshan Cricket Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club on Wednesday, April 9, at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
In the final few overs of the game, wicketkeeper Alif Hasan stumped Shinepukur batsman Minhajul Abedin off a delivery from Naeen Islam. The hitter could have turned around and entered the crease, but he chose not to. Rather, he observed the keeper breaking down the stumps from outside the crease.
With seven overs remaining and one wicket remaining in a league match between Shinepukur and Gulshan, Shinepukur was seven runs from victory when batsman Minhajul Abedin charged down the wicket, let a wide ball fly, and was stumped out. Abedin seemed to move his bat away and ground it outside the crease after first trying to establish his ground. Fans started speculating about possible match-fixing when videos of the incident went viral on social media.

It's interesting to note that the wicketkeeper gathered the ball right away and stumped the batsman on the second try after failing to strike the stumps on the first. The BCB's anti-corruption branch has opened an inquiry into the contentious stumping, which has given rise to accusations of match-fixing in the competition.
A statement by BCB said, "The BCB Anti-Corruption Unit and the League's Technical Committee have promptly initiated an investigation into the alleged irregularities associated with the match. The BCB remains committed to ensuring fairness and discipline in all cricketing activities under its jurisdiction and will take the necessary actions based on the findings of the investigation."
Shabbir Ahmed said, "We saw the footage. It was the last dismissal of the day. This sort of thing is usually the match referee's responsibility. We are aware of the TV umpire sitting next to him also, so they must have studied the footage. They are supposed to give a report on the incident."
Sabbir Ahmed, the league coordinator for the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM), stated that the match referee was in charge of it and that they were awaiting the umpire's report before continuing with the investigation. As the DPL moves closer to the league's final round, the outcomes will add interest to the competition.
