Before their Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh observed a minute-long silence in remembrance of Dunith Wellalage's late father. On September 20, the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage began with Bangladesh playing their bitter rivals, Sri Lanka. After winning the toss, Litton Das asked Charith Asalanka's team to bat first.

A minute of silence was observed before the playing of the national anthem in remembrance of Suranga, who died on Thursday, September 18, during Sri Lanka's match against Afghanistan. At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh to begin the continental competition's Super-Four stage. The cricket community has given Wellalage a great deal of support during this trying time.

Sri Lankan Players' Tribute at Asia Cup 2025:

Litton Das, the captain of Bangladesh, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The 2022 winners got off to a fast start because of the contributions of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, who combined for 44 runs in five overs. But the former was out for a 22 from 15 balls. After getting 34 runs off 25 balls, Kusal Mendis appeared to be in perfect form, but Mahedi Hasan ended his innings. Only five runs were scored by Kamil Mishara off eleven deliveries. In contrast, Kusal Perera left for a run-a-ball 16.

Despite being blasted for five sixes by Mohammad Nabi in the previous match, the 21-year-old has been kept in the starting lineup. The left-arm spinner took just one wicket while giving up 49 runs in 4 overs against Afghanistan. Notwithstanding the assault, Sri Lanka was able to win a significant match and move on in the competition. Regarding the current game, Sri Lanka is off to a great start as of this writing, with the team captained by Charith Asalanka standing at 43/0 after 4.3 overs.

With players like Kamindu Mendis, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dunith Wellalage waiting to enter the game, Sri Lanka still has a lot of batting remaining.
