Sri Lanka put on a strong show in the fifth Group B match of the Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi on September 13, holding Bangladesh to a low total before easily chasing it down. When Sri Lanka used disciplined bowling and astute field placements to apply constant pressure, Bangladesh, having won the toss, struggled against excellent pace and spin. Throughout the innings, Sri Lanka's well-balanced attack controlled the scoreboard while the visitors were unable to form any lasting alliances.
In the current Asia Cup 2025 Match No. 5 between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Towhid Hridoy was run out with a direct hit on the third delivery of the fifth over. During his nine-ball stint at the crease, Hridoy, the third wicket to fall in the Bangla Tigers' innings, failed to score a single boundary, leaving his team reeling.

Hridoy started running as soon as he drew away a short ball that Nuwan Thushara had delivered to the deep on the third ball of the fifth over. Although the batter made a full-length dive, Kamil Mishara's throw from the deep square leg region was spot on and caught him just short of his crease as he was running for a third run.
Mishara maintained the assault with a cool, undefeated 46 off 32 deliveries, combining strong drives with astute positioning to control the necessary run rate. Dasun Shanaka made a brief appearance, and Kusal Mendis got a brief start, but their stand decided the battle. With six wickets remaining and 32 balls remaining, Sri Lanka reached the target in 14.4 overs to win handily and make a strong statement in the Asia Cup 2025.
