Aliss Al Islam, an off-spinner for the Chittagong Kings, is once again under investigation for allegedly engaging in unlawful bowling. This has raised concerns about his ability to continue playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). After the umpires formally reported his action against the Rangpur Riders on January 17, 2025, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will now evaluate his bowling.
The bowler must go through an official action test at the BCB facility in Mirpur on January 25 in accordance with the current norms. Suspicion of the off-spinner's bowling action has been raised previously. In BPL 2019, Aliss grabbed news for the first time, captivating everyone with his own mystery spin. But that same season, his bowling motion was questioned, necessitating an official evaluation. Regretfully, he was laid off for eight months due to an injury before the test.
Aliss Al Islam's BPL 2025 Mishap:
However, he was reported for a questionable bowling action a few days following his remarkable achievement. A follow-up analysis verified that Aliss's behaviour was, in fact, unlawful. Due to this, the bowler's career had a brief hiatus, as he was unable to play competitive cricket for two years before returning to domestic leagues.
In the meantime, Aliss has claimed 11 wickets in eight BPL games so far this season. However, his bowling action has once again impeded his improvement. Prior to joining Chittagong Kings for the BPL 2025, he played for the Bangladesh HP Team and in domestic leagues during the previous 12 months.
The on-field umpires reported the 28-year-old's bowling action after his performance in the encounter against Rangpur Riders. Raqibul Hasan, the chairman of the BPL's Technical Committee, explained the situation and confirmed that Aliss would be tested on January 25 to see if his actions adhere to the legal requirements stipulated by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
