Several clubs and individuals participated in match-fixing during the most recent Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season, according to a recent inquiry. Serious concerns have been raised by the findings regarding the league's governance and integrity. The investigative job had previously been finished. Over three thousand pages have been written up from approximately 300 hours of audio recordings of the investigative committee's conversations with the persons involved.

According to a report by Prothom Alo, 36 anomalous incidents were found during the previous season by the BPL investigating committee. Suspicious batting and bowling patterns were among these events. Ten to twelve cricket players were flagged by the investigation, including two current Bangladesh internationals, an off-spinner, and a pacer. In order to influence the results of matches, several domestic players were also discovered purposefully bowling wides and delivering dubious balls.

BPL Match Fixing Controversy:

One of the most prominent instances occurred during the 10th BPL (2023–24), when bookmakers promised a franchise Tk 40 billion in exchange for losing a particular game. The franchise's acceptance of the offer was not confirmed by the committee. That franchise ultimately lost the game, though, since it failed to notify the BCB's anti-corruption unit about the offer as required by law.

All implicated players, team officials, and managers should be prohibited from playing cricket until they can demonstrate their innocence, according to the investigation's expected recommendation. The investigation also included broadcast partners; it was claimed that certain TV stations illegally made between 170 and 180 crore taka by running ads linked to gambling. These disclosures have sparked a significant debate in Bangladeshi cricket, drawing attention to league management and the steps required to rebuild public confidence.
