Chris Lynn Joins Hampshire Hawks for Remainder of Tournament

For the last six games of the Vitality Blast group stage, Lynn will play for the Hampshire Hawks. With his explosive batting, Lynn aims to boost the team's chances of reaching the Finals.

Hampshire has signed Chris Lynn to play the remaining games in their group stage of the current T20 Blast. With six South Group games remaining in the season, Hampshire's inclusion of Lynn seems to be an intriguing proposition. After South Africa called up Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis for the 2025 Zimbabwe Tri-series, Lynn, who last played for the Adelaide Strikers in the 2024–25 Big Bash League, arrived.

In a statement issued by the team, Lynn stated, “It’s great to return to Hampshire, this time as a pro; I had a brilliant time playing club cricket in the county a while ago now. The Hawks are a hugely successful side, and hopefully I can play a big part in the second half of the Blast to take the team to Finals Day."

The 2022 and 2023 seasons saw the 35-year-old top-order hitter play in the Blast. He scored 3 hundreds and five half-centuries while playing for Northamptonshire, amassing 880 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 146.91 in 23 innings. Since playing his final ODI and T20I matches for Australia in late 2018, Lynn has been quite active in the domestic franchise scene. He is an experienced player in the 20-over format of cricket. For Hampshire, having a top-order batsman with Lynn's level of aggression would be fantastic.

Giles White, Director of Cricket for Hampshire, said, “We are delighted to have Chris with us for the back half of the Blast. We’ve got some important games ahead of us, and his experience and explosive batting give us a big boost."

Playing for the Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the Blast from 2022–2023 and scoring 880 runs at an average of 44 with a strike rate slightly around 150, Lynn is a powerful batter who frequently hits massive sixes. Lynn has participated in 292 Twenty20 matches and scored over 8,000 runs in the format, including 54 half-centuries and five hundreds, three of which were in the Blast.
