Sri Lanka is hosting the 2026 T20 World Cup, and some of the matches will take place there. Two teams with a great deal of tournament experience will face off in this Group B match. As the World Cup's co-hosts, Sri Lanka was automatically eligible to compete. Sri Lanka lost an ODI series and a tri-series final to Pakistan after qualifying for the Super 4s in the Asia Cup the previous year. They then tied a T20I series against them. Then, just before the tournament began, they lost to England in both an ODI and a T20I series.
In the meantime, Ireland's ICC standings guaranteed them a spot in the 2026 T20 World Cup. They competed fiercely against Bangladesh and England in the Twenty20 Internationals last year. Then came victories in the series against the UAE and Italy. Before this World Cup, they only played one warm-up match against Pakistan, which was washed away.

R.Premadasa Stadium Pitch Report:
Most of the pitches in Colombo are suitable for bowling. We also witnessed this during the first ODI. It is, more precisely, a paradise for spinners. Here, the ball bounces suddenly and makes abrupt rotations. Batters may take something off the surface early in the game. However, it becomes the spinner's game as the pitch begins to crumble. Wiley pacers with a lot of variation can also thrive here by exploiting the crevices and fluctuating bounce. The straight lines extend up to 75m from the batter, while the square borders are roughly 68m distant.
Colombo Weather Forecast:
The evening in Colombo is going to be sticky. There is very little probability of rain, and the skies will be overcast. The humidity will be high, and the winds will be low. At the time of the match, the temperature will be approximately 25 degrees Celsius.
SL vs IRE Head to Head:
This will be Sri Lanka's fourth T20I match against Ireland at the World Cup. Having won all three games thus far, the Lankans have a definite advantage over the Irish squad.
