On Day 3 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester, England's batting dominance presented a difficult test for the Indian bowlers. In the 125th over, Jasprit Bumrah made his lone breakthrough, and Mohammed Siraj got rid of Chris Woakes in the 130th over. Due to their apparent physical difficulties, neither pacer was able to make any early progress with the second new ball. India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, gave a fitness update following the day's play, allaying worries about any major injuries. Because of their ailments, neither bowler bowled after the new ball was taken.

Thanks to an incredible 150 from Joe Root and an undefeated 77 from captain Ben Stokes, England has managed to take a 186-run lead. After bowling just one over with the new ball, Bumrah seemed uncomfortable, which added to India's worries beyond the scoreboard. After leaving the field and returning, he was limping.

Bowling Coach Morne Morkel Breaks Silence:

NDTV Sports cited Morkel during the post-day press conference, "I thought the way the boys responded this morning, especially Siraj and Bumrah with the ball, was good to see. And yeah, from there, you know, we tried our best with trying to create opportunities. We could look like it played better than the first couple of days. So, you know, discipline and holding those lines were key, and that was something I think we missed earlier. And then coming back to the injuries, yeah, unfortunately, when we took the second new ball, Bumrah rolled his ankles going down the stairs, and then Siraj also, I think, rolled his foot in one of the footholds, but they seem to be okay"

The bowlers' performance on day three was well below their typical speeds, according to the Indian bowling coach, who also mentioned that the surface was flat and that bowlers had to strike the deck hard to get even a small amount of zip. England tightened their hold on the game in the meantime, reaching 544 for 7 by stumps.

Ben Stokes added an undefeated 77 despite momentarily leaving the field owing to cramps, while Joe Root spearheaded the drive with an incredible 150. With three wickets remaining, England presently leads by 186 runs and will try to maintain their lead on Day 4.
