Mark Wood, an experienced bowler for England, stated his wish to play Test cricket again and hopes to play in the fifth and final game of the current series against India. The 35-year-old speedster, who is presently recuperating from a knee ailment, thinks he can win the battle against time to be ready for the fifth Test, which is set to start on July 31 at London's Kennington Oval. Wood believes he will be ready to play in the fifth Test, despite the doctors' predictions that he would be out for four months.

Talking to BBC Test Match Special, he said, "Rehab is going well. I've just started bowling very lightly, so I'm officially on the comeback trail nowI. 'm hoping to still play a part in this series so I get to have a look at some of the players here who I might come up against. I'm still targeting probably the last Test. Anything before that is maybe a bit too soon. The last Test - I might not get there - but at the minute, that's still my focus."

Mark Wood's Future in ENG vs IND 2025:

Wood is anticipated to participate in Durham's County Championship game against Somerset, which begins on July 22. The Ashington native acknowledged that it has taken him some time to recuperate, but he pointed out that things have recently accelerated, with the aim of playing Shubman Gill's team again in international cricket.

He further added, "It's been a bit slow to start with. I haven't been able to do a lot, but it's starting to speed up now. I'm getting some bowling in-hopefully not too much longer. I am still hoping that I can play a part right at the end of the series, but I'll just wait and see."
