After suffering an injury during the third Test match against England, India's vice-captain Rishabh Pant left the Lord's Cricket Ground on Thursday. Dhruv Jurel took over wicketkeeping responsibilities right away, but India is still in uncertainty because the BCCI has not yet confirmed the severity of Pant's injury. Since ICC rules do not yet permit Jurel to be regarded as a complete replacement, the issue might become a major worry if Pant is unable to bat.

On the opening delivery of the 34th over, Ollie Pope failed to flick a ball from Jasprit Bumrah that was creeping down the leg side. Pant had a somewhat ungainly take and ended up parrying the ball for a couple of runs towards the fine-leg fence. But as soon as the delivery was declared dead, he was seen to be in excruciating pain. As the physiotherapists hurried out to retrieve the spray from his gear, the Haridwar native was seen bouncing around in pain. Pant swallowed some water and some painkillers to ease the pain while he grimaced in agony.

Rishabh Pant's Injury Scare:

As soon as the team physio attended to Pant, play was halted. The'magic spray' was used, and then Pant bandaged his fingers again to maintain the wicket. However, he left at the end of the over, and Jurel took his place. Hardly a minute later, he was seen ascending into the dressing room, and head coach Gautam Gambhir was one of the people who got up from his balcony position to see how the 26-year-old was doing.

Speaking of the first session, Nitish Kumar Reddy's medium speed helped India take a few wickets. In the same over, Ben Duckett (23 off 40) and Zak Crawley (18 off 43) were out. Both dismissals implicated Pant. At lunchtime on the first day of the crucial Test match at the Lord's, England finished at 83/2 in 25 overs.

The only alteration the visitors made was to substitute Bumrah for Prasidh Krishna. The senior bowler returned to the mix for the current match at the Home of Cricket after being rested for the second Test. To obtain an early advantage in the match, the Shubman Gill-led team will try to take the remaining English wickets as soon as possible.
