Washington Sundar, an all-rounder for India, is still optimistic that his team will defeat England in this historic Test match by completing the vital 193-run chase on a challenging day five pitch at Lord's. A tight final day was set up by Sundar's four-wicket haul on day four, which was crucial in knocking England out for 192.
All outcomes are still possible in the third Test match between England and India at Lord's. England needs six more wickets to win, while India needs 135 more runs to win with six wickets remaining. But with nightwatchman Akash Deep, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, and important batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal back in the pavilion, India got into early problems, falling to 58 for four. The touring team needs to score another 135 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series, and Indian opener KL Rahul is still undefeated at 33.

"We want so many things the way we expect them to be, but yes, we'll take it any day. We'll really come out positive tomorrow. We've got some solid batsmen in the dressing room. It's exciting in every way, you know, winning a Test at Lord's is going to be amazing. So, I think we're sitting pretty,"Sundar stated at the news conference held on the day. Washington's timely breakthroughs that damaged England's batting lineup helped him earn his selection over Kuldeep Yadav, who was picked for his all-around skills.
He further added, "Definitely India winning tomorrow, probably in the first session. Probably just after lunch. The position that we are in right now… probably for 1 (wicket loss) at the stumps would have been ideal, but yes, the way we bowled, all the fast bowlers in particular, the way they came out today and kept the pressure going throughout the day was amazing."
The greatest bowling numbers ever recorded by an Indian off-spinner in a Test innings at Lord's were achieved by Sundar, who was brought on late in the second session and claimed 4 wickets for just 22 runs in 12.1 overs. Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Ben Stokes, and Shoaib Bashir were all bowled out in his four dismissals.
