The death of his father, Khanchand Singh, in Greater Noida on Friday after a protracted illness was a significant emotional blow for Team India batter Rinku Singh. He passed away on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital. A member of India's T20 World Cup team, Rinku has stepped away from the team to spend this trying time with his family.
PTI quotes Dr Sunil Kumar, a representative of Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where the father of the cricket player was admitted. He said, “His condition had deteriorated significantly in recent days, following which he had been admitted to the hospital on February 21. He was placed on ventilator support and breathed his last early this morning."
Originating from the Aligarh area of Uttar Pradesh, the 28-year-old has frequently discussed his father's sacrifices. Rinku's journey was greatly influenced by Khanchand, who worked in petrol cylinder distribution and supported his son's cricketing goals despite financial difficulties.

Rinku Singh had to withdraw from the T20 World Cup earlier because his father's condition worsened. After the South Africa game, he hurried back home to be by his family's side when the situation became dire. But he returned to the Indian team before the match against Zimbabwe on February 26 after spending time with his family.

According to additional reports, Khanchand Singh's final rituals will take place in Aligarh, and Rinku is scheduled to attend the funeral later today. Despite suffering from a liver condition, Rinku's father attended his son's engagement ceremony at a hotel in Lucknow in June 2025. Rinku is engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj.
