According to the most recent information, Shreyas Iyer will skipper India A for the forthcoming home series against Australia A. Given his achievements for the Indian squad in the One-Day Internationals and his status as the team's top run scorer during the Champions Trophy 2025, the Mumbai batter is the clear favourite to captain the team.

Two unofficial Test matches are planned to take place in Lucknow as part of the series. In the two four-day red-ball matches against Australia A, Shreyas Iyer, who led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, is currently predicted to captain India A. Next week, the Australian second-string team will travel to India for a brief trip that will comprise three one-day matches and two unofficial Test matches. Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the one-day matches, while the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow will host the red-ball matches.

IND A vs AUS A 2025 Captaincy Update:

Despite having strong form during the previous Ranji season, Iyer has been out of favor with the Indian squad lately after failing to qualify for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. During the Indian Premier League 2025, he guided Punjab Kings to their first final in eleven years and amassed over 600 runs at an incredible average of 50.33, making him one of the league's best scorers. He did not, however, make the 15-man Indian roster for the Asia Cup 2025, which kicks off on September 9.

The Mumbai hitter, who is currently playing for the West Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025, started off strong with 25 runs against Central Zone in the second semi-final but was unable to turn it into a significant total. Iyer's chances of being named captain of India A for the forthcoming multi-format series against Australia, however, appear to be unaffected by a single performance, according to the reports.
