A back injury has kept all-rounder Shivam Dube out of India's T20I series against Bangladesh. For the three-match series that kicks off in Gwalior on Sunday, Tilak Varma has taken his position in the side. The Indian team has suffered a great loss with their ace player Shivam Dube's exit.
Dube participated in all eight of India's matches at the T20 World Cup 2024 in the Americas. He also took part in the series that followed, which included matches against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. In the meantime, Varma could not have picked a better time to establish his influence. In his early T20I career, he has played 15 innings altogether and has performed admirably for the team. He now has the opportunity to establish himself as a regular 20-over player for the national team, though.

Given that Varma hasn't been given much responsibility for the ball up until now, it will be intriguing to watch how Gautam Gambhir and company allocate their resources for the fifth bowling option. If Varma doesn't receive the ball at all, it appears like either Hardik Pandya or Riyan Parag will have to carry a greater weight when it comes to delivery.
