On February 6, 2025, India and England square off in the opening One-Day International (ODI) of the three-match series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The visitors got off to a fast start as England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and chose to bat, but India rallied with important wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal's outstanding running-behind catch to well-set remove Ben Duckett from Harshit Rana's bowling early in the game was a highlight.
Both young players made an immediate impression on the match as Jaiswal gave Rana his first ODI wicket with a spectacular catch. Due to a poor start, the speedster conceded two boundaries in the opening over alone. In his third over, Philip Salt further battered him for 26 runs. But on the third ball of the tenth over, Rana forced Duckett to pull him, earning him his first wicket at last.
Yashasvi Jaiswal's Acrobatic Catch:
India defeated the same opponents 4-1 in the T20I series before the match. Jaiswal and Rana were given their ODI caps prior to the toss. But the team suffered a blow when Virat Kohli was sidelined with a knee injury. By scoring 26 runs off of just one over from Rana, England's opener Philip Salt had handed the team an early lead. But he was dismissed after trying to score a third run in Hardik Pandya's over. Salt left for 43 off 26 balls because of KL Rahul's deft glove work and Shreyas Iyer's incisive fielding.
The ball went up in the air toward deep square leg, but the England batsman mistimed it. Stationed within the circle, Yashasvi Jaiswal ran behind and executed a full-stretch dive to make an incredible catch. As a result, Duckett had to give India their second wicket by returning to the pavilion for 32 (29).
Excellent Run-out 👍

After struggling at first, giving up 37 runs in his first two overs, Harshit Rana recovered magnificently. The speedster struck again in the same over that Duckett was dismissed, this time taking Harry Brook out for a duck. Brook was placed into an uncomfortable position by a well-bowled bouncer, which resulted in a glove down the leg side that Rahul was able to comfortably grab. The tourists were struggling at 77/3 under 10 overs after this wicket.
