During the second Test match against the West Indies on October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Indian Test captain Shubman Gill had a momentary scare after running into Tevin Imlach. By the end of Day 1, India was comfortably ahead in the second match, having already taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
On Friday, on the first day of the second Test match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India captain Shubman Gill and West Indies wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach collided. Play was briefly stopped when the critical event happened in the 85th over. The incident happened when Anderson Phillip bowled Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. A diving fielder to Jaiswal's right made a fast stop after he flicked a delivery firmly towards the mid-wicket area. Gill and Jaiswal both ran between the wickets, trying a fast single. But the throw to the wicketkeeper's end was errant, and Gill struck Imlach as he attempted to avoid it, causing the ball to brush the Indian captain's shoulder.

To evaluate the situation and perform preventative concussion checks, Indian and West Indian physiotherapists hurried onto the field. Imlach seemed to grab his arm as Gill, obviously frightened by the accident, hurriedly took off his helmet. Thankfully, both players were judged fit to continue following a few tense moments and some treatment.
When play concluded on the first day, India was in a dominant position with a score of 318/2. Gill had previously won the toss and chosen to bat first, which turned out to be a wise choice. Jaiswal led the West Indian bowling assault with an incredible 173 not out off 253 balls, including 22 boundaries, while Sai Sudharsan played a cool innings of 87 runs.
A similar scenario is anticipated for the second day as well, with the batters likely to dominate once more. While Gill wants to add more noteworthy moments to his growing collection, Jaiswal will try to hit yet another milestone.
