On Friday, May 9, tensions between India and Pakistan led to a one-week suspension of the IPL 2025. Bomb threats against Indian stadiums are still coming in the meantime. Less than two weeks ago, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the home field of the Rajasthan Royals, received a bomb threat. Neeraj A. Pawan, the president of the Rajasthan State Sports Council, stated today that the bomb disposal squad and the frisking team have already arrived to look into the matter after receiving another threat via email.
ANI quotes additional Superintendent of Police Lalit Sharma, “The mail was sent to the official email ID of the Sports Council. Acting on this, the stadium was vacated. The Bomb Disposal Squad, with the help of the Dog Squad, is conducting an investigation."
Indian Cricket Stadiums in Danger?
In May, Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium was threatened with a bomb for the second time. The police were notified on Monday after the threat was submitted to the Rajasthan Sports Council's official email address, and the premises were promptly cleared. When the Dog Squad and Bomb Disposal Squad reached the stadium, they thoroughly searched.
In less than an hour, the Holkar Stadium in Indore received another bomb threat, despite Jaipur's increased security. Jitendra Singh Yadav, the person in charge of the Tukoganj Police Station, handled the matter. He stated that the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) had informed them that they had also received a similar email threatening to blow up the site.
A bomb threat was made during the KKR vs. CSK Indian Premier League 2025 game at Kolkata's Eden Gardens Stadium earlier in April. The bomb threat was sent by email to the Cricket Association of Bengal. The concerning email, which came from an unidentified ID, was discovered in CAB's official inbox.
