On Tuesday, April 22, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals will play Match 40 of the ongoing 2025 Indian Premier League without Mohit Sharma. LSG, currently ranked fifth, defeated the Rajasthan Royals by a slim margin of two runs. The Gujarat Titans defeated DC by seven wickets in their most recent match. On the points table, they are presently in second place. KL Rahul will face LSG for the first time since the separation.

Dushmantha Chameera, a fast player from Sri Lanka, replaces Mohit in the Delhi Capitals starting lineup. The red soil strip that is being used for the game at Ekana Stadium is the cause of this. Compared to Sharma, Chameera will have more bounce and speed and be able to better exploit the pitch conditions. In the final overs, Chameera will be especially important to counter the powerful LSG finishers Abdul Samad and David Miller.

Mohit Sharma's Injury Blow:

Before tonight, Mohit Sharma, who DC purchased at auction for INR 2.2 crores, had appeared in all seven of DC's games this season. Mohit, on the other hand, has failed to produce, taking just two wickets at a dismal 105 average and an expensive economy of 10.

Axar Patel, the captain of Delhi, chose to field first after winning the toss. He ascribed his choice to the venue's crimson clay and the dew that would form in the second innings. However, Rishabh Pant said that he would have chosen to bowl first. However, he disclosed that his team's plan would be to record a competitive total while playing according to the circumstances.
